Are You Safer Married?
One recent study found that there is a higher “hazard ratio for mortality” among never-married single people than there is for those who are married. Never-married singles are 24% more likely to die than their married counterparts.
The mortality hazard ratio for singles of both genders has been increasing over time. The good news is that the risk difference decreases as a single person gets older.
