Higher Fitness Levels = Lower Diabetes Risk

A lower risk of incident diabetes is associated with higher fitness, according to study results published in Diabetes Care.

This association remained constant regardless of demographic characteristics and baseline risk factors, according to the researchers.

The association between fitness and incident diabetes was linked with older age, a history of hypertension and a history of high lipids whereas white race strengthened the relationship.

“In conclusion, greater fitness is associated with a lower risk of developing diabetes regardless of age or sex,” the researchers wrote.
