The carotid artery is the artery going up the neck to the brain and face. An atherosclerosis is  a narrowing or constriction of an artery. A recent study found that low vitamin D levels are associated with subclinical carotid atherosclerosis. Just one more reason to insure you get enough Vitamin D.
