Older Women Benefit from Resistance Training

Physical activity, cardio workouts and resistance training hold great cognitive benefits for older men and women.

Many studies have proven this, including one done in Canada that examined the effects of weekly resistance training on the cognitive function of women 65 to 75 years old.

The study found that “twelve months of once-weekly or twice-weekly resistance training benefited the executive cognitive function of selective attention and conflict resolution among senior women.” Task performance improved with both the once and twice-weekly groups. Increased gait speed was also associated with enhanced selective attention and conflict resolution.
