Poor Sleep Contributes to Preterm Birth

Poor Sleep Contributes to Preterm Birth

It is very important that pregnant mothers get their sleep. Poor sleep is already associated with poorer pregnancy outcomes. A new study found that it can also increase the likelihood of preterm birth. Researchers found that “poor sleep quality, in both early and late pregnancy, is associated with an increased risk of delivering preterm.”

Expectant mothers need to take extra special care of themselves during and after pregnancy. In addition to sleep, they need to insure that they are getting the proper nutrition to meet their needs and the developmental needs of their baby. Now is the time to be pampered.
