There Are Limits of To Low Back Pain Self-Management
There is a belief among some people that their back pain can somehow be “self-managed” without seeking the care of a doctor of chiropractic or other musculoskeletal specialist. A study from Australia demonstrated that this just isn’t the case.
The researchers found that “self-management has small effects on pain and disability in people with LBP (low back pain). These results challenge the endorsement of self-management in treatment guidelines.” So while some health care providers that are less familiar with back pain may try to suggest that a person can manage their own back pain, the research just don’t support that notion.
If you have back pain, even if it seems minor and tends to come and go, your best choice is to see your doctor of chiropractic as soon as it flares up. Not only will you have the pain addressed, but they can focus on the primary cause which could ultimately be much more serious than you realize.
