Trump may win (and I don’t like that)
The American people are stymied by high inflation (I really did not notice this myself) and they are willing to throw their support behind that repulsive man because he promises to fix this.
They know and don’t care about his character flaws.
In response, a reader wrote this:
Yes, but he also appeals to our first instinct and not our higher knowledge. He [TRUMP] finds flaws in human character and pushes those buttons.
He finds men who are angry because they live where there are no jobs, and can’t make the kind of money their fathers made, so he tells them it because of immigrants and blacks, and he tells the same thing to blacks, (it’s the immigrants and liberals), and it sounds like it makes sense but none of the people personally lost a job to an illegal immigrant (most of those jobs went overseas, because of executive decisions by private companies).
The appeal to condemn immigrants goes all the way back to 1700s [in the UNITED STATES], so he just touches on every trope that is deeply embedded in our national consciousness. Absolutely follows the Goebbels [lead propagandist of the NAZI Party in Germany] handbook, blame those who can’t fight back.
His followers think nothing of his desire to use the US Army to act on his behalf, like some banana republic dictator. What they don’t realize is, it starts by sending them “over there” (like Michigan, and Black Lives Matter protests) and then it starts to be used over here (Arizona – lots of White people). But every white male who feeds into his bullshit, thinks it’s about “them” [other people who are not White] and not “us”, until is is about “us”, and then it’s too late. As Richard [another brother of mine, older than me] repeats from mom, and it is not original, “your enemy always tells you his plan.”
But so many people choose what they want to hear. “He wouldn’t do that/ he is just saying that silliness but he doesn’t mean it/ well, BLM [BLACK LIVES MATTER] is destroying all of America” (except it hasn’t.)
Trump wants to use the Sedition Act, which would allow him to use the US Army in case of civil unrest which threatens the government. Oh…like when his followers attacked the US Capital…except he wouldn’t use the US Army.. because those people were white and his people…
[The reader is my twin brother, LARRY, who has an advanced degree in History. Despite our relationship, I have to say that he is right about everything he wrote.
