Use of Certain Pain Relievers Increases Risk of Hearing Loss in Males
Males who take aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs – NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Advil, Children’s Advil/Motrin, Medipren, Motrin, Nuprin, PediaCare Fever, etc.) for pain relief twice a week or more have a greater risk of losing their hearing. This is especially true for males under 50 years old whose risk of hearing loss increases by 33% for aspirin, 99% for acetaminophen and 61% for NSAIDs.
