Dr. Lane’s Thoughts LXXVIIII

1. Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

2. Always remember that while you can buy your dog toys, he only wants to use them when you are close by because he needs you close to him. You are your dog’s favorite toy.

3. Our society is rapidly rushing to AI so we don’t need to think out complex ideas or concepts. We say that this will ‘free us yo’ to do other things.

Phones have replaced socializing face-to- face, cars replaced walking, markets have replaced farming, and so on.

Evolution, both physically and mentally, has led us to be a physical animal that works best in social groups, walking great distances, and working together to solve complex problems.

Where does that leave us when those demands are met without much effort?

4. MAGA followers and the acquiescing Republican DUMP toadies who have allowed their lumbering ignorant criminal leader to push the United States to the brink of economic collapse have a lot to apologize for the state of the US today.

To paraphrase the band Tonio K. when they wrote the line for “Collapse of the Western World” concerning Hitler, “Put Hitler in the driver’s seat and looked the other way”, just substitute “Trump” for “Hitler”.  You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

This lumbering clown of a President spends every day trying to steal assets of the United States with both hands while using stupid issues to distract the electorate: issues such as Trans women in sports and water pressure for showers.

Are these really your priorities?  Do you have any idea how many trans athletes there are in sports in the United States?  To be fair I am going to include every single one of them, from little league to full college athletes.

Do you have 2 hands?  Raise up all of your fingers and count.  If you reached ’10’ you are fully informed about this matter.

Water pressure?  It has everything to do with the showerhead and not just the water pressure.  Many areas have low pressure but there is no means by which any person in government can force a change on this very localized problem.

All the people who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves for excusing Dump’s history to either vote along party lines, ignore Kamala Harris’s obvious integrity and intelligence (out of fear of a Brown woman as President), or the mistaken belief that Dump is a ‘successful’ businessman (pick any 5 years since he took over his daddy’s companies and show me where he didn’t lose millions of dollars while earning none).

Yes, Biden became a doddering fool towards the end of his Presidency but Dump was not the answer.  I have a 6-year old Shih Tzu who would have been more honest and a better choice.

5. A quote about being Jewish in 2025 by Taffy Brodesser-Akner: “And though I do want antisemitism to be punished and banished, how am I supposed to feel comforted by an administration that seems to be invoking it to fight a culture war that has nothing to do with Jews, while at the same time warmly embracing not one but two guys who recently did the ol’ “Sieg heil” in front of large crowds? Is the actual longest Jewish tradition that we get scapegoated even by the people who are pretending to save us?”

6. Jews should all be against Trump and his ICE campaigns, his ‘America First’ and his ‘America for Americans’, his MAGA(t) movement: we’ve seen this before. This is just USA Nazism.

So little is different. Today we have videos and the images are in color so we see the comparison as ‘old’ and ‘new’ but it is the same rhetoric!

7. Trump is taking every opportunity to enrich himself while in office. This is Kleptocracy.

8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a tool and not a threat insomuch that it can be ‘stopped’ by being unplugged. A real ‘threat’ could not be remedied this easily (i.e. disease outbreaks, natural disasters, war, etc.)

The ‘threat’ is that AI can (and will) replace people on many job that are complex and repetitive.  That is the whole point of computers (which is where AI originated – namely, this is what we all wanted from the beginning of the computer age).

Is it really a problem that AI will replace human employees?  It will replace people hired and working for other (human) people who don’t need them anymore for the skills replaced by AI. So go find another job!  Hopefully, a job where AI cannot replace you.

Does anyone truly believe that writing editorials and crying out into the night about how AI can and will replace you is a viable solution to the inevitable and constant progress of technology?  History is a constant stream of humans left behind by new ways to do their jobs without them.

Even (better) start your own business and use your skills to create the life you want. Maybe use AI to do the tasks you thought that you might need other people for.

And repeat.  You are now part of the natural progress of employment and technology in history.

Accept that this is the new reality.
