Low Vitamin D Increases Risk of Dementia
Vitamin D has a number of important health benefits for people of all ages. It looks like it can also help us remain mentally sharp as we grow older. One study found that “low levels of vitamin D [are] associated with a substantial cognitive decline in the elderly population studied over a 6-year period, which raises important new possibilities for treatment and prevention.” As these studies continue to emerge, we are beginning to appreciate that good nutrition plays a dramatic role in our mental health as we grow older.
