  • A man named David Geier, appointed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead a clinical trial on vaccines and autism, has been charged with practicing medicine without a license. He allegedly administered unapproved treatments to autistic children. His father, Mark Geier, was a physician but had been involved in controversial and discredited treatments and passed away recently. 


  • David Geier does not have a medical degree. He has no background in science or medicine.  Obviously, he has no relevant background in vaccine research.


  • Additionally, a letter submitted to the Senate supporting Kennedy Jr.’s nomination included names of doctors who had their medical licenses revoked or suspended for misconduct, but this refers to supporters and not the Kennedys themselves.

  • David Geier’s father, Dr. Mark Geier, had his medical license revoked due to multiple violations including:

    • Administering treatments with a “known substantial risk of serious harm” to autistic children that were neither evidence-based nor generally accepted by the scientific community.

    • Misdiagnosing patients and diagnosing without sufficient tests.

    • Recommending risky treatments without fully informing parents of the risks.

    • Misrepresenting credentials during a medical board interview.

    Mark Geier’s license was suspended starting in April 2011 as an emergency action for public safety. After hearings and appeals, his license revocation was upheld in August 2012. His licenses in several other states were also suspended or revoked thereafter.

    David Geier, without a medical license, was charged by the Maryland State Board of Physicians with practicing medicine illegally and was fined for this offense.

  • David Geier and his father Mark Geier have a history of publishing fraudulent and fake medical articles that claim a link between vaccines and autism, despite overwhelming scientific consensus disproving this connection. Their papers were riddled with basic flaws, and they did not declare financial conflicts of interest. In one instance, they bypassed institutional review board (IRB) approval by creating a sham IRB comprised of family and business associates, which led to a paper being withdrawn by a journal.  They routinely cited articles that were fake or were solely written by them.

    The Geiers promoted a false theory that autism is caused by mercury poisoning from vaccines and claimed to cure it by lowering testosterone levels in autistic children using high doses of the prostate cancer drug Lupron. This “treatment” was scientifically baseless and dangerous, sometimes causing serious side effects like pain and osteoporosis. They charged families thousands per month for these costly and ineffective treatments.

    Their studies were published in fringe journals with no credible peer review, often citing their own work to create a false appearance of scientific legitimacy. These fake studies have been propagated by anti-vaccine activists, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has cited their work to support vaccine-autism misinformation.

    In short, the Geiers’ medical articles were fabricated, unethical, and unscientific, contributing to dangerous misinformation and exploitation of vulnerable families.

  • Donald Trump – as has been seen in previous high-level government appointments – has put loyalty above credentials.  In this case, the nation’s health and the health of its citizens has been put at risk.
