What MAGA Think Trump Has Accomplished
Many MAGA-aligned voters point to a consistent set of “wins” they believe Trump delivered, mostly on the economy, immigration, culture, and the courts.
Economy and jobs
-
Strong pre‑COVID economy in his first term: they credit him with job creation, stock‑market gains, and overall economic confidence.
-
-Presidents have almost no control over job creation or stock market gains; these gains are purely economic and involves the interplay of businesses and their buyers.
-
Tax cuts: they view the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and later “Working Families” tax cuts as proof he lowered taxes and boosted growth, especially for businesses and middle‑class workers.
-
Current-term inflation and markets: supporters praise the recent drop in inflation, lower gas prices, and record stock indices as evidence he “fixed” what they see as Biden‑era economic problems.
-
– I’ll let them have this. A win is a win, even if the relationship between lowering taxes and the US deficit is an inverse one: if you pay less taxes the us has more trouble paying debts which leads to greater inflation and higher prices.
Immigration and border
-
Tougher border stance: they see his wall push, increased enforcement, and restrictions on certain categories of immigrants and refugees as finally “getting serious” about illegal immigration.
-
-That wall thing was a complete joke. His friend Bannon went to jail over this due to fraud. We don’t hear much about that wall anymore, do we? A failure in every sense.
-
“America First” policies: tariffs, efforts to reduce net migration, and threats of large‑scale deportations are viewed as defending American workers and sovereignty.
-
-What a wonderful word, ‘sovereignty’, it indicates that we have kept all those people out and made many of them run back to their countries leaving us with no one to milk cows, gather produce, and, overall, do many of the job that no one else will do.
-
But the people left will be 100% American and that is what is important except for one thing: no one will take those jobs.
Culture, “deep state,” and government
-
Fighting “elites” and bureaucracy: many think he exposed a hostile “deep state” and cut “wasteful” or ideologically driven programs (especially DEI offices and foreign aid), making government more responsive to ordinary citizens.
-
-OK, so all those White people are concerned that marginalized groups like Blacks, Gays, Latinos, the handicapped should not have any preference over the children of the majority group in the USA. This is a great way to think until you find that your child doesn’t have preference either and you feel ‘something should be done about that’.
-
Populist style: his willingness to attack media, universities, and federal agencies is seen as courage rather than norm‑breaking, proof he’s on their side against institutions they distrust.
-
– You can have your view on this but those ‘elite’ universities are some of the greatest places of learning in the world and all of you want your kids to attend there. You can always send them to the single-sex, religion-based schools for their education. I am sure that your sexually-confused sons and daughters will enjoy single-sex schools for the obvious reason.
Courts and social issues
-
Supreme Court and judges: MAGA conservatives count his three first‑term Supreme Court picks and broader judicial appointments as huge victories that helped overturn or weaken policies they oppose (like parts of Obamacare and abortion protections).
-
– Even the Supreme Court has had enough of Trump and his weird ideas about economics and tariffs. Now, he is mad at them – the people he put there!
-
Traditional values: they approve of his alignment with conservative Christian priorities, support for gun rights, and opposition to progressive racial and gender initiatives.
-
– ‘Traditional values’ always translates to the same thing: White people and their first-world problems with everyone else.
Foreign policy and “America First” abroad
-
Skepticism of intervention: they like his criticism of long wars and nation‑building, seeing him as less willing to launch new large‑scale interventions even while remaining very pro‑Israel.
-
Hard line on rivals: tariffs and pressure on China and other trade partners are seen as finally standing up for the U.S. after decades of “bad deals.”
-
– The only person to perceive these ‘bad deals’ is Trump himself. if this was an issue before then businesses would have made it a priority.
-
– Once again, Tariffs are PAID BY THE BUSINESSES DOING THE IMPORTING AND PASSED ON TO THE CONSUMER. You (the consumer) WILL PAY MORE!!
-
The businesses selling the goods in the other countries do not pay more.
-
Translation: We are hurting ourselves.
