Calcium = Lower Prostate Cancer

While much has been published about how proper nutrition can reduce female specific cancers, male oriented cancers lack the same amount of data. A recent study found that men who consume larger amounts of calcium in their diet can reduce their risk of prostate cancer. Researchers noted that “calcium from food is associated with lower risk for prostate cancer, particularly among black men, and lower risk for high-grade prostate cancer among all men.”
While the study did not address calcium from nutritional supplements, there are a number of other benefits that they provide. It probably makes sense to insure you have an adequate amount of daily calcium from both food and supplements.
