Diet Soft Drinks Cause Strokes
While drinking diet soft drinks may help reduce the amount of carbs a person consumes, they are not without their downside. As one study points out, they have a significant impact on your risk of an adverse “vascular event” like a stroke, myocardial infarction or some kind of vascular death.
Researchers found that “those who drank diet soft drinks daily (vs. none) had an increased risk of vascular events.” Daily soft drink intake increased their risk of vascular events by 43%.
There are plenty of alternatives to diet and regular soft drinks, including the most readily available: water. Next time you are asked what you want to drink, consider all your choices.
