Don’t Use Drugs to Quit Smoking

To some people’s way of thinking, the best way to quit using a drug like cigarettes is to temporarily replace it with a drug designed to help you quit the first drug. The problem with this strategy is that the smoking cessation drug has its own side effects, some of which could be more harmful than the cigarettes themselves.

A recent study found that one drug, “Varenicline shows a substantial, statistically significant increased risk of reported depression and suicidal/self-injurious behavior.” In fact, of the people studied who had experienced “suicidal/self-injurious behavior or depression,” 90% of them had taken Varenicline.

How bad is Varenicline? The medication is called CHANTIX in its commercial form.  As a Certified Medical Examiner dong the exams for the Department of Transportation for people seeking to get or retain their Commercial Drivers License (CDL) we are informed to FORBID anyone trying to get a CDL if the use Chantix!

Until they are off the medication CHANTIX a driver cannot legally drive a truck!

Anyone who smokes should quit. The health dangers are very real and well established. But how you quit matters. Instead of drugs, ask your doctor of chiropractic what you can do to help purge the toxins from your body and build up your health nutritionally.
