Green Tea Keeps Seniors Moving

Green Tea Keeps Seniors Moving

Maintain your quality of life as you get older can be a challenge. As you get older, it gets harder to keep your body functioning they way it did when you were young. It can be more work to maintain your strength, balance and endurance. This is particularly true if you are over 65 years old.
A recent study found that seniors (over 65) who drank green tea had “a lower risk of incident functional disability” than those who didn’t. The researchers found that the more green tea seniors drink, the more they reduce their risk of functional disability (compared to those who drink less than one cup a day):
1–2 cups of green tea per day – 10% reduction
3–4 cups of green tea per day – 25% reduction
More than 5 cups of green tea per day – 33% reduction
Other studies have suggested that consuming green tea can also reduce the risks of stroke, cognitive impairment, and osteoporosis, making it a popular choice for seniors.
