Lower Your Blood Pressure and Protect Both Your Heart and Brain

Reducing your blood pressure can do more than just lower your risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke. A recent study has found that “reducing midlife systolic BP (blood pressure) is an effective prevention strategy to reduce risk for late-life dementia.” That’s good news because dementia – loss of brain function that affects memory, thinking, language, judgment, and behavior – is a real risk as we age.
If you are at or nearing midlife, you can lower your blood pressure a number of ways, the most effective being maintaining a healthy weight, eating healthy (lots of fruits & veggies) and exercising at least three times a week.
