Researchers have discovered that skyrocketing prescription rates held the biggest connections to increased deaths in the U.S., as the prescribing of opioids for chronic conditions such as back pain has doubled over the past 17 years. 

Recently published online in the American Journal of Public Health, the systematic review study found that evidence for the cause of deaths had little to do with the commonly touted explanations given, such as single pill mills, doctor errors, or even people seeking out drugs online. 


With prescription pain drug abuse in the U.S. now classified by the CDC as an epidemic, the services provided by doctors of chiropractic (DCs) represent a conservative care first approach for the prevention, diagnosis and management of back pain and spinal disorders that can often enable patients to reduce or avoid the need for riskier treatments,”
